BROTHERS FROM ANOTHER MOTHER

Here's another of my sketches.  This one is a duo of Chewbacca and Mr. T.  This technique is fun, but it doesn't scan well.  The canson paper has  a very nice subtle color but it gets dulled out when scanned :(  But at least you get an idea...  The idea for this piece came from a fan comic plot I wrote involving Chewy and Mr. T as roommates.

THOR official costume concept - LEE OAKS

The Mighty Thor in his official movie costume.  By adding the ocean backdrop it made me think of the similarities between Thor and Aquaman.  Blond hair, occasionally with beard, large iconic weapon, both drawing on King Arthur lore, related to a natural element, same status in their respective universes and Thor even sports a kind of scale-like pattern on his sleeves...  I used black guache to do the washes.

Spiderman and Mary Jane Pin-up by Lee Oaks

Here's a Spiderman and Mary Jane Pin-up I did.  I haven't drawn Spiderman since I can't remember when.  I had forgotten how much fun it is to draw him.  I think it looks better in Black and White, what do you think?

Escape from Terra volume 1 Lee Oaks

My first (instructed) art discipline was water colors.  I seized this opportunity to paint Mars the old way by hand.

Hi-Roller #2 cover Pencils Lee Oaks

I picked this layout even though it diverts from the established theme.  It captures every story element and provided me with lots of textures and challenges.  The lighting and flames, the smoke, the stars, the animals (yes animals!) and glowing music notes and embers, etc...  See below to see how it turned out.

I decided nibs would be in order for the pine needles.

I like how the fire turned out.  Don't ask me how I did it.  I had it all planned out in my head, then it became much more complex when putting it on paper.
